U15B SN League – Menzieshill 11–16 Dunfermline Match Report

Our U15B side travelledd to Olympia to play Menzieshill on Tue 16 Jun for the return fixture after an exciting 16–16 draw back in November. With several squad members unavailable, our eight-player team faced a tough challenge against Menzieshill's 12-player squad. The message before the game was simple: focus and intensity.

The team responded brilliantly from the opening whistle. Toby made a flying start, scoring twice in the first minute to set the tone. Ben was outstanding at centre back, disrupting Menzieshill's centre forward, making several steals, and helping Dunfermline establish a 6–3 lead by the end of the first period.

The intensity continued into the second period, with Logan, Toby and Maks all finding the back of the net. Toby's work rate was particularly impressive, consistently swimming back to support the defence after attacking phases. The second half was always going to test our smaller squad, especially some of our younger players, but Danny, Mikhail and Natan all put in tremendous shifts. Their defensive marking, recovery swimming on turnovers, and overall game awareness were excellent throughout.

Holding a six-goal advantage going into the fourth period, the team switched to a more defensive setup. Toby again led by example at centre back, while Billy controlled the tempo of the game and produced several excellent saves to keep Menzieshill at bay.

Period scores: 3-6, 3-5, 2-3, 3-2: Final score 11 - 16

Overall, the team delivered exactly what was asked of them, maintaining their focus and intensity from start to finish. The red faces at the final whistle showed just how much effort everyone had put in. It was a fantastic way to close out our U15 campaign, and every player should be extremely proud of what they have achieved this season.

U15B League – Stirling 9–22 Dunfermline 14 Jun

Sunday 14 Jun U15B SNL fixture against Stirling was a rematch of November’s encounter, where our young Dunfermline side secured a convincing 19–3 victory. With almost a full squad available, the boys started strongly, racing into a 7–0 lead in the opening period thanks to goals from Logan, Maks, Natan and Mikhail.

Solid defensive play combined with an effective attacking display saw Dunfermline add another seven goals before half-time, with Toby leading the way by completing a hat-trick.

The comfortable lead provided an excellent opportunity to give some of our younger and less experienced players valuable game time in a variety of positions. Alex and Arlo both found the scoresheet, showing growing confidence in one-on-one situations with the Stirling goalkeeper. Danny battled hard against much bigger opponents, demonstrating great determination and tenacity, while Ben played a key role at centre back.

Liam responded well when matched up against more experienced Stirling players, and Billy commanded the goal superbly. He produced several controlled saves and distributed the ball effectively, launching numerous counterattacks that led to scoring opportunities and goals.

Overall, it was another strong team performance from our young squad. Well done to all the players. Thanks also to Harry for his assistant coaching duties and to Sam for her excellent work as Team Manager.

The team will look to carry this momentum into tomorrow’s trip north to Dundee, where they face Menzieshill.

2026 Scottish Championships Summary

This year Dunfermline led the way with 4 wins from 4 finals; the U17 Female, U17 Male&Open, Senior Open and U19 Male&Open (combined with MHW).

 

For the first time in several years the event returned to Tollcross.  In addition to teams attending with their staff and vocal supporters with drums and horns; Dunfermline also contributed a significant number of Volunteers, Table Officials, Marshalls and Referees as well as supplying equipment, all of which helped make this event a success.

Every match felt worthy of a final: close, competitive, and often undecided until later in the game, when the eventual winners pulled away to secure the title.

Senior Men Match Summary

Sat 6 Jun - Scottish Championships Finals - DWPC v Portobello

We made a very strong start going into an early 3 goal lead but Porty pegged us back with 4 goals in a row to lead by 1 at the period end.

8 goals were shared in the 2nd period with exciting end to end action so Porty led by one at half time.

With us fighting back to 11-10 ahead mid way through the 3rd period the game's pivotal incident occurred when Portobello's Emil Vilin was excluded for violent conduct when under strong defensive pressure which meant we had an extra man 6v5 situation for 4 minutes in which time we scored 4 goals to Porty's 1.

Despite Porty gaining player parity at 6v6 for the remaining 5 minutes, DWPC's stronger squad and intensive pre game preparation paid dividends as we took control of the play, scoring the last 3 goals of the match for a well deserved 17-11 win. Trailing at halftime we had won the 2nd half of the match 10-3.
