Match Report – U/15 Girls Scottish League –Portobello v Menzieshill/DWPC 27/4/24
Sat 27th April 2024 – RCP Edinburgh
Well done to the combined Menzieshill/DWPC - U/5 Girls team who had a very comfortable 37-5 win in their second game of the 2023/24 Scottish League season against a very young and inexperienced Portobello team.
We had 12 players on poolside and the nature of the performance allowed all of our team to enjoy significant water time. It was very positive too that all outfield players scored at least 1 goal.
The team worked hard throughout the game. This allowed us to rotate players constantly and maintain a high playing tempo.
Game positives:
• Strong Press defence allowing many defensive steals and ball interceptions.
• Strong Counter Attack leading to many goals
Areas to work on:
• Always look for the cross pass in counter attack if available.
• Move into a vertical body position with shooting arm towards the ball when available for a cross pass during counter attack.
Match statistics:
Per 1: 2-10
Per 2: 2-9 – (4-19)
Per 3: 0-12 – (4-31)

Boys U15 SNL Match Report: Stirling v Menzieshill / Dunfermline 21/4/24
Boys U15 SNL Match Report: Stirling 6-21 Menzieshill / Dunfermline
A slow start by the boys as they eased themselves into the game, after being held at 2-2, two quickfire goals just before the end of Q1 seen the boys take a 4-2 lead.
In the 2nd quarter the boys took their chances well and kept well organised defensively. This was to their credit as all 13 boys were being rotated to give everyone as much pooltime as possible. Q2 ended with a comfortable 10-4 advantage.
Periods 3&4 continued in the same vein with good organisation and plenty of enthusiasm restricting Stirling to only 10 shots on goal in the whole game. Shooting accuracy also proved a positive with 21 goals converted from 26 attempts.

Match Report: DWPC Ladies v Aberdeen – League Play off semi – final
Thursday 28th March 2024 –
Very well done to DWPC Ladies who have qualified for the Scottish League Play off final with a commanding 26 – 10 victory against Aberdeen at Carnegie Centre last night.
The home team fielded 12 players and welcomed back GB Internationalist Niamh Moloney. Nice too to introduce U/17 players Millie Wishart and Erin Livie for their first start with the senior team.
A strong hybrid defence designed to pressurise the Aberdeen players who scored significantly in the last meeting between the two teams paid dividends as DWPC raced into a 7-2, 1st period lead. This was consolidated in period 2 & 3 as we rotated our players with two 5-2 period returns for a 17-6 three quarter scoreline. As Aberdeen tired we utilised our counter attack well with a 9-4, 4th period score for a 26-10 full time scoreline.
This was a strong performance in which the team was always leading, winning all 4 periods of play which meant all our squad enjoyed time in the water. It was very positive that our goals were shared across 9 different players, including a debut goal for Erin.
Our organised attack was controlled and we worked hard to create 9 extra man situations and gain 2 penalties although our 3 from 10 goal return in man-up is something we need to work on. We did concede 9 exclusions but our man-down defence was excellent saving 8 of the 9 these situations and actually scoring one goal ourselves on the counter.
On the negative side, at times our distribution and passing accuracy was awry leading to some missed goal scoring opportunities. All in all a good win, but certainly things to work on in upcoming training sessions to prepare for the challenge of Kirkintilloch in the final.
Match summary:
- Goals: Zara, Catlin McR (4), Nicola (9), Erin (1), Amelia, Kayleigh (3), Niamh (3), Lucy (1), Robyn (1), Alison (3), Caitlin O’M (1), Millie.

- Man-up: 3 scored from 9 attempts – Penalties: 2 from 2 scored
- Man-down: 8/9 saved including 1 counter-attack goal.
