U15 Girls at SE National Age groups - 2-3 Nov
What a fantastic weekend for the U15s Caledonia girls at the Swim England 2024 National Age Group Championships.
On Saturday they started the tournament with their hardest match against West London Penguins who went on to be crowned champions. The girls put up a very good fight and were the only team that stopped them from getting into double figures!
The girls didn't let the first defeat put them down and went on even stronger and more determined to win in their next 3 matches, which they did! At the end of the first day these were the results:
Caledonia 2 v 9 West London Penguins
Cheltenham 6 v 9 Caledonia
Caledonia 18 v 12 Tyldesley
Caledonia 22 v 5 Worthing
This meant that the girls started their Sunday matches playing City of Liverpool to see who would later be playing for gold and bronze !
This was again a really tough match. The girls worked hard but ended up losing 10 -5!
Final match was against Exeter! It was a really close contest in the early stages of the match but Caledonia managed to just stay ahead slightly and defended brilliantly reducing the chances of Exeter closing the gap! Final result 7-2 !!
Congratulations to the girls for their well deserved bronze medal!! π π π

Match Report β U/17 Girls Scottish League β DWPC v Menzieshill - 27 Oct
In a very closely contested and exciting match, DWPC lost 9-12 to Menzieshill (MH) in their first game of the 24-25 Scottish U/17 girls WP League season.
After a slow start going 0-2 down, a penalty goal by Ava brought us back to 1-2 at the end of period 1. We worked very hard in period 2, keeping possession well and winning and scoring a penalty and two man-ups (Ava) and a further goal by Hali saw us lead 5-4 at halftime.
We increased our lead to 6-4 early in period 3 through Ava but then MH played very strongly putting our defence under pressure, getting the ball to their centre forward and scored 5 goals with just 1 in reply from Hali to lead 9-7 at the three-quarter stage. Early in period 4, MH scored a further 2 goals to lead 11-7 but DWPC continued to work hard, make chances on the counter-attack and won another penalty. Unfortunately not all chances were taken allowing MH to attack and score at the other end. The last 4 goals were shared between the teams for a final score of 12-9 to Menzieshill. Well done to them.
Game positives:
β’ A very determined and hardworking performance in which all 9 of our listed players made positive contributions.
β’ We gained 7 opposition exclusions and 3 penalties compared to only conceding 2 exclusions and 1 penalty.
β’ We led at half time and gave ourselves the opportunity to win the game with the number of chances we created.
Areas to work on:
β’ Roll onto back early during counter-attack to be available for a pass. Drive strongly forward with or without the ball to shoot or support the ball carrier.
β’ Move forward into a vertical body position with shooting arm towards the ball when available for a cross pass during counter-attack. Always pass to hand firmly.
β’ Finding the free player quicker in man-up.
β’ Getting back quickly to steal the ball from a strong Centre forward when defending.
β’ See you all at training on Tuesday!

Niamh Moloney, Scottish Senior Water Polo Player of the Year.
After a hugely successful year in the pool, Dunfermline Water Polo Club star, Niamh Moloney, was named as the Senior Water Polo Player of the Year.
The award for 2024 is the third time, and second year running, that Niamh has been named as Senior Water Polo Player of the Year and comes after a stellar 12 months on the international stage.
In early January, she was selected to represent Great Britain's senior women's squad at the European Water Polo Championship, which was the team's first appearance at the tournament in a decade.
Niamh and her team-mates defied the odds to reach the quarter-finals and, after finishing seventh overall, qualified for the 2024 World Aquatics Championships, which took place in Doha the following month.
GB went on to finish 11th, which was the highest placing of any British side since the inaugural women's World Championship tournament in 1986.
