SNL Boys U17 - Stirling v DWPC Match Report
U17M 14 Dec - Stirling 4-32 Dunfermline
The boys maintained their impressive and unbeaten start to the league campaign, emphasising that Dunfermline are the team to beat this season!
Stirling lined up with a young and experienced team but with lots of enthusiasm. Dunfermline came out and dominated the first period by taking a 12-2 lead and working very hard defensively to stifle Stirling attacking opportunities.
The game continued with Dunfermline firmly on top and the less experienced boys getting lots of valuable game time and taking their opportunities. Most pleasing was to see the goals spread across eleven players and all the squad contributing. Congratulations to Dev Birdi scoring a hat-trick on his 15th birthday and also Natan Jankowski stepping up a level and scoring his first goal at U17 level.

Team (scorers):
Aaron Bayne (GK P1), Logan Currie (6), Dominik Lazar (4), John Wilson (1), Toby Hoblyn (5), Maks Jankowski, Caleb Wilson (3), Euan Ferrier (3), Dev Birdi (3), James Lees (2), Zety Nagy (4), Natan Jankowski (1), Billy Stothard (GK P2-P4).
East District Development Tournament Report
Great to see so many of our players at today's East District tournament, 13 Dec. We had 11 very excited kids participating in games not only for DWPC but also with the Nomad team.
The main stand out for me was the progress all players have made since the last tournament, improved skills, confidence, and sportsmanship all round – well done all!
A great example of what the ED tournaments are all about, game experience, challenge and lots of fun.

Match Report: DWPC/M’Hill Ladies v Warrender – SNL 2025/26
Monday 8th December 2025 – RCP - Edinburgh.
DWPC/M’Hill have lost their first game of the 2025/26 Ladies SNL season with 5-10 defeat to rivals Warrender. In a low scoring contest, the Edinburgh team were always leading and despite a solid first half performance, where we only trailed by 1 goal, we struggled to pose consistent goal threat in the 2nd half against an organised defence and excellent Goalkeeper to lose 1-5 and grant Warrender victory. Well done to them.
Positively, we lined up with 13 players, to Warrender’s 11, with 6 of our girl’s U/18 and GK Eve Fielding making her first start for the Senior Ladies team.. We were missing Kayleigh Goldschmidt from our line-up and our opponents Eve Kerr and Nyrobi Gutu.
Per 1: We started with Zara in goal, and Ava and Lucy on the left, Susan and Molly on the right and Kayleigh at CB and Julia at CF. Unfortunately, we made a slow start in an attacking sense against a strong press and struggled to create clear chances and were forced to dump the ball on 28 secs several times. This allowed us though to cover well and grant our opponents few counter-attack opportunities. They were solid in possession however and probed our defence well to score 3 goals through Lauren Averell on our right, Rosa Green on our left and Caitlin McRobbie with a perimeter lob to lead 3-0 at the end of the period.
Per 2: The 2nd period was much better from our point of view. We defended actively to put more pressure on their perimeter and made it more difficult for Warrender to pass cleanly to their CF. We posed more of an attacking threat too, scoring two on the counter-attack through Ksenia and Molly, were more accurate in our passing to CF gaining a penalty which Lucy scored and a goal from Julia. We gained a man-up too but this was missed. Warrender replied with a goal from Kiara Walsh on the drive and Lauren Averell when 6v5. We won the period 4-2 but trailed 4-5 at the halfway stage.
Per 3: Eve was introduced to the game in goal at this point allowing Zara to play outfield. It was a very even period with defences on top and a lot of close 1v1 physical exchanges. Rosa Green scored a 2nd from our left wing before we saved a 5v6 situation with a good save from Eve. The game was then scoreless for 5 mins. We did well to gain 2 exclusions but unfortunately missed both 6v5’s before Caitlin McRobbie scored again from the perimeter with a well placed shot to stretch Warrender’s lead to 4-7.
Per 4: We needed to make a fast start to the final period but we were unable to break free consistently from our opponent’s close marking. When we did, we missed good shooting opportunities through a little hesitation, wrong decision making but also good opposition goalkeeping. Disappointingly, we were penalised often for offensive fouling that disrupted any attacking momentum we had. This seemed an uneven application. Warrender created and took their chances well, scoring 3 in a row from Rosa when 6v5, and 2 more from Caitlin. They also gained a further two 6v5’s but we defended them well stop their scoring. A 1-3 period score for a 5-10 defeat.
Reflections:
This was a difficult game against well organised opponents. We did create many more chances than the 5 goals scored would suggest but too often we lacked the necessary composure to find the player in space or shoot accurately past a very strong GK when under pressure. We struggled too to sustain a high tempo of attacking drives and break the shackles of close marking defenders. Defensively we worked hard and limited the opposition to very few counter attacks, but unfortunately, we did not blunt the threat of left hander Rosa Green at Position 1 or the experienced Caitlin McRobbie on the perimeter.
Going forward, we have a lot to work on and if we are to improve individually and collectively, we need better and more consistent attendances in future training sessions.

Areas to work on:
- 6 v 5 – “Man-up” We missed all 3 in this game
- Individual and collective attacking and defending when being held.
- Our fitness and water mobility.
